Strengthening democracy is one of the most important tasks of our time – and an undertaking that extends far beyond national borders.
The Swiss Democracy Foundation has made this its mission: we promote international dialogue on (direct) democratic instruments and support democratic processes at all levels – from local communities to national and international associations. We are convinced that democractic structures are possible at every level. And wherever they are put into practice, they have an impact.
Our work focuses on various areas of activity: from science and research to political education for youth, young professionals, and organizations, to strengthening civil rights and civil society. We are particularly committed to establishing and maintaining a global network that facilitates cross-border exchange and joint action.
This work is only possible because people like yourself support it thematically and financially.
To mark the foundation's 10th anniversary, we have deliberately chosen a new path. Instead of a traditional advisory board, we have established the Friends and Patrons Circle of the Swiss Democracy Foundation – an alliance of individuals who share our values and want to contribute to our mission. Are you interested in issues relating to (direct) democratic instruments worldwide and would you like to make a concrete contribution to the international promotion of democracy? Then we look forward to welcoming you to our circle. You can register your interest here.
