With the "Youth + Democracy" fund, the Swiss Democracy Foundation focuses on the promotion of democracy education, the culture of democratic debate and the support of young initiatives in the field of democracy promotion.
The Board believes that empowering and supporting young people and young adults to participate in politics is an important element with a promising future.
FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS
The Fund aims to support organisations and projects that are primarily run by young people up to the age of 30. The projects must meet the objectives and criteria of the Fund and be close to the Foundation's multiannual programme.
The objectives and criteria for potential grantees are the promotion of democracy, the participation of youth and young adults in public life and politics, a commitment to an open and liberal society, and policies that counteract polarisation and work towards broad-based socio-political compromises.
Grants from the Youth + Democracy Fund are awarded by the Foundation's Board Committee. The Board can also decide on further allocations from the fund. It also encourages third parties to make contributions to the fund.
